How does Canvas detect cheating? ›

Activity monitoring tools – Canvas provides solutions like locking the browser or detecting suspicious activity, such as opening a new tab during exams. Activity analysis tools – teachers can evaluate students' time on each task and even assess the keystrokes or mouse clicks if the test results seem fishy.

The Canvas Activity Log will show what a student is doing within each minute of the quiz or exam. For example, if during the fifth minute of the exam a student answers numerous questions, the Canvas Activity log would pick up that information and label it all under the fifth minute of the exam.

Can professors see what websites I visit during a Canvas quiz? No, professors cannot see the specific websites you visit while you are outside of the quiz page. However, they can see that you left the quiz and the duration of your absence.
