Not shure of the date on this but could be late 50’s. Here is an amazing example of a tin litho battery operated United DC 7 Mainliner with Original box and insert made by TN of Japan. The plane appears in excellent shiny condition with bright litho colors and shows only a few minor imperfections here and there ( see pics). I tested the plane and it works great, pressing the power slide on/off button lights the (passengers people silhouette) in the cabin and starts all four propellers and wheels spinning/turning. The left red wingtip marker? light illuminates as well, but the green right wingtip marker light does not. That is the only thing that I can find that does not work, probably an easy fix. The plane moves forwards and turns left and right by pushing either of the two red buttons on the metal/tin control box. Control box appears in excellent condition, with original cardboard? battery insert inside. Wire from control box to plane looks good. I only ran the airliner for less than a minute because the motors probably need a little lubricantion. The airliner measures approximately 15 inches long and has an approximately 18 1/2 inch wingspan. The box is in overall good condition for it’s age and probably lucky to have survived at all. It is a stapled corner type box, both bottom and picture lid. It has one torn corner to lid and a small piece of cardboard missing approx. 2 1/2 inches long near the corner of bottom box. There is some staining to bottom portion of box. Comes with an original cardboard box insert (not sure if there were others), also has a very tiny cardboard box that was with it that is marked/stamped “lamp” has all flaps. This may have been for the wingtip or cabin lamps but I am not sure, this box is empty but included. There are two original paper stickers on the bottom end of box that has the model ? number (faded hard to read) and a very unusual “Export Standard” red paper stamp with a number which I think links it to it’s import destination, but only a guess. The lid litho picture part of box looks good but has minor cracking/flaking/peeling mostly at the corners and here and there with some minor staining on front panel. Also has one torn corner, colors are solid, still very good. Entire box does show appropriate ware for it’s age. I have tried to describe this cool vintage piece to the best of my ability but you will have to rely on the pictures as well. I would probably call this a three action airplane, perhaps four.
