The Registered Nurse-Obstetrics Pediatrics Rotation assigned to the Mother/Baby unit fulfills the essential functions of the RN-Pediatric. Responsible to the Manager for overall nursing practice. Provides professional nursing care based on current nursing knowledge through use of the ANA Maternal Child Health Nursing Practice Standards. This includes the responsibility for assessment of the patients' needs, development of the plan of care to meet those needs, implementation of nursing interventions, and evaluations of patient care outcomes.
Education
Completion of an accredited registered nurse program required; BSN preferred.
Experience
Previous RN experience preferred.
Charge qualified preferred.
Experience in antepartal, neonatal, obstetrical and/or pediatric nursing preferred.
Effectively functions as a team member and as a liaison between patient and staff.
Supports and encourages harmonious communication skills.
Job requires strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
Communicates in highly professional manner at all times.
Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with ill people; uses tact, sensitivity, sound judgment and a professional attitude when relating with patients, families, and co-workers at all times.
License/Certification/Registration
Current Pennsylvania RN licensure.
Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years.
Within one year of the hire/transfer date, completes the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and renews NRP every two years.
Within one year of the hire/transfer date, meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and renews PALS every two years.
